No Surprises Act

Learn more about the Good Faith Estimate that you will receive should you decide to begin your journey with Believe In Your Journey.

What is the No Surprises Act?

Psychotherapy treatment is included in the No Surprises Act. This legislation is intended to ensure that people do not receive surprise medical bills. It is more applicable to the medical setting than the therapeutic one, but nevertheless psychotherapy treatment is covered by this act.

Because of this act, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate as a part of your intake paperwork at Believe In Your Journey. It’s your right to receive the GFE under the No Surprises Act. The Good Faith Estimate (or GFE) provides you with information about what you will be charged for therapeutic services. This includes your provider’s name and National Provider Identification Number (NPI) as well as their hourly rate.

Because Believe In Your Journey does not contract directly with insurance companies, every client will receive a GFE. This is the case even if you will be participating in a single-case agreement.

We cannot reliably tell ahead of time how much therapy you might do throughout the year. You will need to multiply this number by the total number of sessions that you expect to do in a year if you require an annual total. Please remember that this number will not include any reimbursement you may receive from your insurance provider for out-of-network benefits (which does cover Believe In Your Journey psychotherapy services). For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights or call 1-800-985-3059.
